BREMAP
BREMAP is a web based Geographical Information System (GIS) developed by BRE and funded by Biffaward through landfill tax credits and a grant from the Institution of Civil Engineers R&D Enabling Fund.
It is an interactive tool designed to help define the best practicable environmental option (BPEO) for waste and it can be used to enhance waste management as a part of the SMARTWaste System.
How to use BREMAP
Those searching for waste management facilities and materials or products within a chosen radius of ytheir postcode or within a selected county simply enter the postcode of their site and BREMAP. BREMAP presents the results on a map with services available in your area represented via symbols. Clicking on the preferred service will present more details including company contact details. BREMAP also links to the Salvo Material Information Exchange (SalvoMIE), providing details of products and materials available.
Those suppliers of waste mangement facilities and materials or products can supply their information for inclusion in BREMAP. Besides waste facilities, BREMAP™ will be able to identify products and materials that are available. This part of the database is updated daily to ensure the latest information on material and product availability is relayed. This service is possible due to the links between BREMAP™ and the Salvo Material Information Exchange (SalvoMIE). A link from the BREMAP™ site to the SalvoMIE will also enable suppliers to enter details of any materials and products that their company has available.
