Best Practice Introduction
The link between the new build and demolition is poor in terms of resource efficiency. Adopting a best practice (whole life) approach to buildings means consideration of resource efficiency for both demolition and new build construction.
The ICE Demolition Protocol is one such approach and a significant part of the information provided within this module is based on the Protocol’s methodologies. The links below allow access to information on the methodologies, with descriptions of the key steps involved in carrying out demolition & new build best practice, or case studies highlighting the benefits of best practice. The following figure describes the Protocol processes which create drivers through the supply chain, with the planning system at the heart of this.
